Over on TNT, AEW is making their return to live television (still with no fans). NXT is still airing pre-taped episodes, but it’s really the action in the ring that matters here, folks. It’s another wild Wednesday Night War and WWE looks to spice up their quarantined programming with a double main event.

Adam Cole (c) is taking on the Velveteen Dream, which has seen his own problems recently. But… that’s a story for a different day.

In the other main event, Io Shirai will battle Charlotte Flair (c) for a chance to hold the NXT Woman’s Championship. This is just the tip of the iceberg, tonight’s episode looks to be action packed.

Johnny Gargano vs. Dominik Dijakovic

Gargano pokes Dijakovic in the eye. Gargano tries to stick and move but Dijakovic floors him with a right hook. Dijakovic tosses Gargano all over the ring. Gargano surprises Dijakovic with a back elbow. Gargano stomps Dijakovic in the corner. Dijakovic manages to land a lariat. Gargano kicks out. Dijakovic launches Gargano with a standing release suplex. As Dijakovic lands a backbreaker, Candice LeRae runs down to ringside. While Dijakovic is distracted, Gargano pushes Dijakovic off the top rope. Dijakovic lands back first on the apron. Suicide dive by Gargano. After the break, Gargano walks into a big boot from Dijakovic.

Dijakovic blocks Gargano’s superkick and sets up Feast Your Eyes. Gargano blocks it and hits a superkick. Dijakovic kicks out. Gargano pulls off one of the turnbuckle pads. The referee puts it back on. Dijakovic chokeslams Gargano. Dijakovic goes up top for a moonsault. Gargano cuts Dijakovic off. Gargano tries a sunset bomb but Dijakovic lands on his feet and superkicks Gargano. Dijakovic tries to powerbomb Gargano out of the corner. Gargano pulls the turnbuckle pad off. Gargano sends Dijakovic into the exposed ring post with a ranna. Gargano hits the slingshot DDT for the win.

Winner: Johnny Gargano

IMPERIUM officially challenges Riddle and Thatcher to a title match.

Interim NXT Cruiserweight Championship Tournament Match: Akira Tozawa (2-0) vs. Gentleman Jack Gallagher (0-2)

Gallagher misses a dropkick in the corner, but lands on his feet. Tozawa puts Gallagher in an octopus hold. Gallagher escapes. Gallagher and Tozawa trade holds. Tozawa hits a suplex. Tozawa set up a dive but Gallagher cuts him off. Gallagher bends Tozawa in ways he shouldn’t. Tozawa fights to his feet. Snap ranna by Gallagher. Tozawa hits the senton bomb for the win.

Winner: Akira Tozawa

After the match, Tozawa says he is going to beat Fantasma.

Xi Li vs. Chelsea Green w/Robert Stone

Green tosses her skirt in Li’s face. Green lands a few strikes before Li takes her down with an armbar. Green hits the ropes and runs into a clothesline by Li. Alyiah runs down to ringside. After a distraction from Alyiah, Green hits the I’m Prettier for the win.

Winner: Chelsea Green

After the match, Stone helps Alyiah up.

Backstage, The Velveteen Dream says the time has finally come for Adam Cole. They have reached their moment. Dreams says this is more than a Dream. It’s Dream over.

Karrion Kross w/ Scarlett vs. Leon Ruff

Kross hits a Doomsday Saito as soon as the bell rings. Ruff slowly gets to his feet. Kross hits another Doomsday Saito. Kross lifts up Ruff and locks in the Kross Jacket. Ruff taps out.

Winner: Karrion Kross

Backstage, Thatcher and Riddle say they are going to give IMPERIUM their shot.

NXT Women’s Championship Match: Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Io Shirai

Flair floors Shirai with a shoulder block. Shirai ducks a boot from Flair with the matrix. Shirai backflips away from Flair and hits a dropkick. Flair boots Shirai in the face then locks a figure-four around Shirai’s neck. Flair slams Shirai’s face on the mat. Flair flips Shirai over and nips up. Flair chops Shirai in the corner. Shirai tries a sunset flip. Flair puts on the breaks and punches Shirai in the face. Shirai beats Flair into the corner. Shirai chokes Flair. Flair catches Shirai with a boot. Clothesline by Flair.

After the break, Shirai springboard dropkicks Flair. Shirai charges into the corner but Flair blasts her with an elbow. Flair goes up top. Shirai cuts Flair off and hits a top rope ranna. Flair kicks out. Backbreaker by Flair. Flair slams Shirai’s head into the middle turnbuckle. Flair goes up top and misses a moonsault. Shirai lands a tiger feint kick. Flair rolls into the corner. Shirai crushes Flair with a running double knee strike. Flair kicks out.

Shirai tries her patented moonsault. Flair gets her knees up. Shirai kicks out. Flair is apoplectic. Flair picks Shirai up for a moonsault. Shirai counter with a ranna that sends Flair into the turnbuckle facefirst. Shirai tries a moonsault to the outside but Flair moves. Flair pulls a kendo stick from under the ring. Flair hits Shirai, causing a disqualification.

Winner: Io Shirai (DQ)

After the match, Flair slams Shirai’s knee into the ring steps. Rhea Ripley runs down to ringside and fights Flair off. Shirai yells at Ripley. Ripley tells Shirai to shut up and walks up the ramp. Shirai limps after Ripley, yelling expletives at her in Japanese.

Backstage, Ripley says she is tired of Flair. Flair may have beaten her, but that was one night. Ripley would like to see Flair do it again. Shirai runs in and gets in Ripley’s face Ripley and Shirai get into a brawl.

Interim NXT Cruiserweight Championship Tournament Match: Kushida vs. Jake Atlas

Kushida and Atlas trade submission holds. Atlas takes Kushida over with a slingshot arm drag. Atlas does a handstand. Kushida kicks Atlas in the arm. Atlas falls to the outside. Kushida lands a senton off the top to the outside. Cartwheel into a dropkick by Kushida. Kushida lands a Liger-Esq palm strike. Atlas and Kushida trade strikes.

Atlas release German suplexes Kushida. step-up enziguri by Atlas. Atlas does a backflip to avoid Kushida. Atlas does a leaping neck breaker. Atlas lands a dive. Atlas goes up top. Atlas springboards off the top right into a flying armbar by Kushida. Atlas taps out immediately.

Winner: Kushida

After the match, Kushida says he is going to honor all of the cruiserweight champions of the past. Time will tell.

Finn Bálor says whoever attacked him is looking for a push. The person that did it won’t get a push, they are going to get a squash.

Cameron Grimes vs. Denzel Dejournette

Grimes tries the Cave In but Dejournette avoids it and hits two belly-to-belly suplexes. Grimes lands the Cave In for the win.

Winner: Cameron Grimes

After the match, Grimes says he deserves more. Grimes would have looked Bálor in the eye if he was going to challenge Bálor. Grimes would slap Bálor in the face if he was standing here. Bálor walks down to the ring. Bálor tells Grimes to step up. Grimes begs off. Grimes swings at Bálor and eats a double stomp.

NXT Championship Match: Adam Cole (c) vs. The Velveteen Dream

Cole and Dream lock up and end up in the corner. Dream slaps Cole in the face. Cole falls out of the ring. Dream sends Cole into ringsteps. Dream sends Cole back into the ring Cole surprises Dream with two superkicks. Cole sets up the Last Shot. Dream counter with a spinebuster for a near fall. Dream sits Cole on the top rope. Dream cuts Cole off. Dream snaps Cole’s neck on the top rope. Cole lands another strike. Cole attempts the Panama Sunrise but Dream reverses it into the DreamDT. Cole kicks out. After the break, Cole superkicks Dream in the knee. Cole calls Dream a joke. Dream fires up and lands a few clotheslines. Dream beats down Cole in the corner. Flying axhandle for a near fall by Dream.

Dream sets up the Dream Valley Driver. Cole escapes. Dream hits a superkick for a near fall. Dream goes up top. Cole moves out of the way. Big boot by Cole. Cole blasts Dream with a backstabber. Dream kicks out. Cole manages to hit the Ushigorshi. Dream kicks out again. Dream and Cole trade punches. Cole knocks Dream out of the ring. Dream walks into a superkick. Cole falls to the mat and Dream falls on top of him. Cole kicks out. Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish run down to the ring. Dexter Lumus crawls from under the ring. Lumus fights off Strong and Fish. Lumus accidentally tosses Strong into the referee. Dream hits the Purple Rainmaker. There is no referee to make the count. In the confusion, Cole superkicks Dream. Cole lands the Last Shot for the win.

Winner: Adam Cole
